Any body who thinks this is kids stuff just try it. Then go to these central desert lands and go out bush with these people. You will be amazed at the knowledge of these elders and the memories. When u are shown a design beside the place it represents then you can truly appreciate it. Please remember this art was originaly intended to be drawn in sand to teach younger people stories and techniques used to survive. If you dont have that knowledge you cant survive. As so many tourists have learnt.

Just like a 5 year old can ride a bike, but a cyclist can ride it better.Sure a 5 year old can paint, but they can’t do the precise paintings that the best of these guys can do.Some do look lame just like some professional musicians music or singing can sound lame compared to others. Also 5 year olds can paint a blank colored canvas and parents will praise them with cuddles. But an artist will paint a blank canvas and they get recognition and it sells for thousands.Lol how messed up is that?

so can ken dones art. at least this has true meaning. In fact its sometimes only valuable because the old artist was born ‘wild’ and is the last of that generation so the art is more valuable. Ive seen a painting go from a two thousand dollar value up to twelve thousand in one day because the artist died. 5 year old? Get real. And how would the 5 year old explain to his grand kids how to survive? Thats what the art is for really.

Self expression through painting is fantastic. I love to see how different cultures represent their own world.
